私房俱乐部 University hosts National Girls & Women in Sports Playday for Erie Area Youth

私房俱乐部 University will host its annual National Girls & Women in Sports Playday on Saturday, Feb. 28, welcoming girls K-8 to campus for a day dedicated to achievements of women in athletics and the power of sports to unlock their limitless potential.

Families are invited to the 私房俱乐部 Athletic Center (MAC) for free activities hosted by women鈥檚 sports teams and organizations at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and free admission to the 1 p.m. Women鈥檚 Basketball game. The Lakers will host Stonehill College for their Senior Day game.

Founded by the Women鈥檚 Sports Foundation, National Girls & Women in Sports Day celebrates its 40th annual event with the theme 鈥淟ead Her Forward,鈥 focusing on leadership and empowerment. 私房俱乐部 joins the celebration as one of hundreds of activity sites nationwide. The Women鈥檚 Sports Foundation reports that more than 300 grassroots events are hosted annually across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., reaching an estimated 200,000 girls and women.

鈥淲e are excited to invite our Erie community to celebrate and learn with our 私房俱乐部 student-athletes and staff. Honoring National Girls & Women in Sports Day through shared experiences is an impactful and meaningful priority for us,鈥 said Suzy Banister, event organizer and academic community engagement coordinator.

鈥淎ctive girls grow into confident women. Introducing fitness and play at a young age supports not only physical health but self-esteem, teamwork, and leadership鈥攕kills that last far beyond the court or field,鈥 said Bethany Woods, co-director of the event.

Tickets for the event are free for girls K-8. Admission for adults to the basketball game is $10 and $5 for senior citizens.
